When you’re diagnosed with cancer it’s scary, to say the least.  Knowing you have a kind, passionate, knowledgeable, experienced, dedicated friend on your “team” can and will ease the nerves. When I went through 16 rounds of chemo, a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery I came across many bizarre, painful, weird, panic inducing, etc “side effects”.  Having someone you trust a text message/phone call away is priceless.  “My lower back is so painful I can’t move”, “it’s from the Neulasta shot, it effects the bone marrow in your largest bones, call your Dr and get pain relief”!  Priceless. “My urine is bright red!!”  “It’s from the “red devil” chemo treatment, it will subside”  Priceless.  “My scalp is so raw it hurts”, “try Vaseline spray lotion on your head after your shower.”  Priceless.  “I have unbelievable heart burn from the chemo”  “Try an OTC acid reducer and for you more dairy less spice and let me know if you’re not eating” (she knows I love ice cream and cheese)!”  Priceless.  I have about 100 more examples!  Our brains love to go to the negative, quickly…..getting a timely, calming, knowledgeable response from Jenny was…. PRICELESS!

Unfortunately I have gone through cancer with both of my parents.  Jenny would have eased a lot of the stress and concern at the time.  If I only knew then what I know now….how PRICELESS someone like Jenny could have been for me and my family.
